How we created a full-fledged sales tool: with OpenCart, custom calculators, case studies, an interactive map, and a commercial proposal builder
The solar energy sector is a complex product where it’s not enough for the client to simply look through a catalog. They need to understand which equipment is suitable for their specific site, how much it will cost, how long it will take for the system to pay off, and whether the contractor can be trusted.
That’s why our task was to create not just a website, but a convenient digital platform that helps the client go from initial interest to requesting a quote, and enables the sales team to prepare personalized proposals more efficiently.
Main project objectives:
- to develop the website’s marketing structure;
- to design a layout that inspires trust and highlights expertise;
- to implement the website on OpenCart with custom logic;
- to create user-friendly pages for case studies;
- to add an interactive map of completed projects;
- to develop a payback calculator for solar power plants;
- to create an inverter selection calculator;
- to implement a commercial proposal builder;
- to make the platform convenient for managers, administrators, and end clients.
Website marketing structure
At the first stage, we developed the structure of the future website: which pages are needed, how the user will navigate the site, where they should receive key information, and where they should submit an application.
We took into account different user behavior scenarios:
- some come from ads and want to quickly understand the cost;
- some compare contractors and look at completed cases;
- some already know they want a solar power plant but don’t understand which equipment is suitable;
- some are looking for a specific type of solution: for business, home, enterprise, or commercial property.
As a result, the website received a logical structure where each section builds trust, explains the product, and generates applications.
Development of UX/UI design for the online store
We created a design that combines technological sophistication, clarity, expertise, and commercial effectiveness.
It was important not to overwhelm the user with technical information, but at the same time to provide enough arguments for decision-making.
In the design, we focused on:
- clear presentation of complex information;
- convenient navigation;
- strong CTA blocks;
- visual representation of case studies;
- mobile device adaptability;
- building trust through facts, completed projects, and calculations.
The website was implemented on OpenCart, but with a large amount of custom logic.
We adapted the CMS not only for a catalog or a standard online store, but for a complex service business with its own sales scenarios.
The following was implemented:
- custom pages; individual templates for sections;
- convenient content management from the admin panel;
- integration of custom modules;
- responsive layout;
- SEO-optimized structure;
- technical foundation for further website scaling.
Custom case pages
We paid special attention to the cases section.
For a company in the solar energy sector, completed projects are one of the strongest arguments for potential clients. That’s why the cases needed to be not just a photo gallery, but full-fledged pages with useful information.
We developed a custom case page format where you can showcase:
- type of project;
- station capacity;
- installed equipment;
- project features;
- implementation photos;
- geography;
- results for the client;
- key technical parameters.
This format helps not just to demonstrate the portfolio, but to sell through real examples.

To make the portfolio even more convincing, we implemented an interactive case map.
The user can see the geography of completed projects, open specific objects, and go to the detailed case page.
This solution works for several tasks at once:
- strengthens trust in the company;
- shows the scale of work;
- demonstrates real objects;
- helps the user find a case in their region;
- makes the website look more lively and technological.
Payback calculator for a solar power plant

One of the key tools of the website is the payback calculator.
For a potential client, the question “When will this pay off?” is often the main one. That’s why we created an interactive calculator that helps quickly get a preliminary understanding of the project’s economics.
The user can enter the main parameters, and the system calculates an approximate payback period for the solar power station.
This tool:
- engages the user in interaction with the website;
- removes some objections;
- helps explain the value of the investment;
- encourages requesting an accurate calculation;
- provides managers with a more prepared lead.
Inverter selection calculator

In addition to the payback calculator, we have developed an inverter selection calculator.
This is a more technical tool that helps to select the appropriate equipment depending on the system parameters.
For the user, it simplifies the complex selection process, and for the company, it helps to standardize the initial consultation and reduce the workload on managers.
Result
As a result, the client received not just a corporate website, but a comprehensive digital platform for sales in the solar energy sector.
The project combined:
- a marketing structure;
- modern design;
- OpenCart development;
- custom case pages;
- an interactive map of completed projects;
- a payback calculator;
- an inverter selection calculator;
- a commercial proposal builder;
- a convenient content management system.
The website helps the company present its expertise, showcase real projects, explain a complex product in simple terms, and receive higher-quality inquiries.
This is not a typical “about the company” website. It is a tool that works on several levels:
For the client — it helps them understand the product, view real cases, calculate payback and submit a request.
For the manager — it simplifies consultation, equipment selection and preparation of a commercial proposal.
For the business — it strengthens trust, automates part of the processes and makes sales more systematic.
